Most people probably never consider camping water filters. Having used purifiers on the water we consume at home, when it comes to outdoor situations we tend to go with bottled mineral water, possibly even drinking it at home as well. Well, when you know that a water purifier is the best thing to use at home, you might want to consider the benefits of switching away from bottled water and using camping water filters when outdoors.
It is generally considered that the water that is piped into your home is not particularly safe to drink and if you consider that the companies who bottle and package mineral water are under less regulation than the county water treatment facilities, then you might start to realise what I’m getting at. Purifying your own water is becoming the way to go at home, so maybe it’s the way to go when it comes to hiking, camping and outdoor pursuits.
When out and about, avoid bottled water as for the most part what is in these bottles isn’t much different to what is piped into your home, with only chlorine and odor being extracted prior to the bottling process. This leaves you open to a myriad of possible carcinogenic agents with potentially bad results – there are several internet sources which can show you how many recalls have been required due to this sort of occurence.
Travel water purifiers and camping water filters are equipped to remove all manner of agents from the carcinogenic agents mentioned above down to chlorine and lead. The biggest benefit after this is that you only have an outlay once on the travel purifier itself then you can enjoy free and clean water while you are out for no further cost instead of having to shell out for packets of bottles every week.
If you are the outdoor type then the environment is probably also a consideration and if you are creating your own drinks via your filter system while out then you are helping to reduce the effect of mountains of plastic bottles being sent to landfill, estimated to be in the region of sixty million per day.
So do yourself a favor and get hold of a camping water filter or a travel water purifier. It’ll save you money, allow you do do your bit for the enviroment and provide you with another excuse to get out into the great outdoors again!
